Day 1 – Afternoon game drive in Etosha national park
You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and have a pre-departure meeting. Arriving at Andresson Gate around 2pm, spend the rest of the afternoon game driving through to our accommodation at Halali. Accommodation at Halali is in twin share rooms, and we highly recommend spending time at the floodlit waterhole before and after dinner.
Day 2 – Full day game driving in Etosha National Park
Morning game drives takes you out into the park searching for predators. A mid morning game drive takes you through to the Etosha Pan where we can see where the park gets it’s name. After a full day game driving, enjoy stop at Okaukuejo where you can stretch your legs, climb the tower, buy a cold drink and use the bathroom.
Exit the park just before sunset, driving through to our lodge for the evening, Etosha Village.
Day 3- Travelling via Damaraland to Swakopmund
Today is a long day in the vehicle travelling through rural Namibia. Our journey takes us through Damaraland where we have the chance to meet the Herero, Damara and Himba people. These stops offer the perfect opportunity to support the local people at their small markets, as well as get to know them in their local environment. After a roadside lunch, we continue our journey through the coast where we make a stop at the Zeila Shipwreck. On arrival in Swakopmund we check into our accommodation. Enjoy a chance to explore the town on foot before dinner.
Day 4 – Swakopmund to Namib Desert
This morning after breakfast we can join an optional activity such as the sand boarding which takes us into the coastal dune fields. We will be picked up from our guesthouse/hotel in Swakopmund at 11:15, for a brief pre-departure talk before departing Swakopmund. Afterwards we depart, we travel via Kuiseb Pass and Gaub Pass to continue on to Solitaire and our camp. We arrive at our camp late afternoon and have a chance to relax and enjoy the views before taking a short walk for sunset overlooking the Naukluft Mountain range.
Day 5 – Sossusvlei
We depart at dawn from camp to arrive at the park gate for sunrise. We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to the 2×4 parking (around 55 kms) and take a 4×4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei region. We explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.
As we drive back to our accommodation we will stop at the famous Dune 45 for photos.
We return to Sesriem and visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon, once a source of permanent water for the local wildlife. Climb down into the canyon and appreciate this small but interesting geological formation.
