6 Day Hwange National Park & Victoria Falls Safari
You will enjoy three nights in Hwange National Park and two nights at Victoria Falls. Hwange is home to over 65,000 elephants, who dominate all the water points in the afternoons during the dry season. Other animals that can be seen in the park include lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, impala, kudu, sable, eland, water-buck, zebra, giraffe, baboon, warthog, and many more.
Day 1- Hwange National Park
Upon arrival at the Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met by your driver-guide and transferred to Hwange Safari Lodge (two hours across tarred roads).
After check-in we will embark on a late afternoon game drive within the Hwange Safari Lodge estate, which borders Hwange National Park. There are no fences between the main park and this estate.
Your three-hour game drive will extend well into the night, which means there is a good chance of encountering the big cats!
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Hwange Safari Lodge.
Day 2- Hwange National Park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up for a full-day safari in Hwange National Park (using the main camp gate). Mineral water, soft drinks, a picnic lunch, and lots of refreshments will be provided. We will use one of the many viewing platforms that dot the park for lunches and return to the lodge around 1600hrs.
The elephants of Hwange are world-famous and make up one of the largest elephant populations in the world. Other animals that can be seen in the park include lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, impala, kudu, sable, eland, water-buck, zebra, giraffe, baboon, warthog, and many more.
Your overnight stay will be at the Hwange Safari Lodge.
Day 3- Hwange National Park
Hwange provides a safari experience to rival the great parks of East Africa (the Serengeti and Masai Mara) – but without the crowds! You will have another fun-filled day in the park looking for your favourite animals. On a good day, you may return to the lodge earlier than expected as you will have seen everything you had hoped to see!
Your overnight stay will be at the Hwange Safari Lodge.
Day 4- Hwange – Victoria Falls
After breakfast you will be transferred to Victoria Falls in air-conditioned vans (a two-hour, 195 km trip).
After check-in, we will make our way to Victoria Falls via the big baobab tree for the guided tour. This 2km walk lasts for about two hours. Nothing can prepare you for the heart-stopping experience that is the sight, sound, and smell of Victoria Falls. You will experience the humbling feeling that the falls are, without doubt, nature’s masterpiece. Mineral water and return transfers are included.
Later in the day we will pass by the open Curio markets for souvenir shopping.
At 1600hrs you will be transferred to the jetty for a relaxing Zambezi River sunset cruise. Enjoy a sun-downer and snacks as you gaze out onto the banks of the river. Have your camera ready to capture one of the most amazing sunsets in Africa. This is a two-hour boat trip with drinks, snacks, and return transfer included. Expect to be back at the Elephant Hills Resort around 1900 hrs.
Day 5- Victoria Falls
Today is kept open for a variety of optional tours: elephants rides, lion walks, whitewater rafting, canoeing on the upper Zambezi, half-day or full-day safaris in Chobi National Park (Botswana), crossing the bridge into Zambia, or shopping for gifts at the open curio markets.
Dinner will be at the award-winning Boma restaurant. Your overnight stay will be at the Elephant Hills Resort.
Day 6- Victoria Falls Airport
This will be your last day in Victoria Falls. Your transfer to the airport will depend on your departure flight time. You may also do one or two more optional tours in the morning before you leave for the airport.
